Department of Geology, University of Delhi is one of the premier study centres of Earth Sciences in India. Established in the year 1966 by Prof. A.G. Jhingran (former DG, GSI), the Department has celebrated Golden Jubilee in the year 2016. Over last 60 years the Department has strived to attain high standard in teaching and research. Course curricula in the Department are regularly updated to keep pace with the growing needs of society and Industry.  Presently the Department is offering courses under New Education Policy (NEP), 2020 and encourages students for regular interaction with faculty members.  Faculty members of the Department are engaged in different fields of research in Geoscience that involves various societal needs. The Department has a number of state-of-the-art instruments and striving for more for doing cutting edge research in Earth science. The Department is thankful to all who support its endeavor to reach higher heights. As Head of the Department I am looking forward to take the Department to new heights in Earth Science study and research.
